Who We Are

Our History

Your Industry Leaders for Over 118 Years

Over the past 118 years, the change has been constant, but our commitment to excellence has remained the same.

Since 1905 we have represented the mechanical contracting industry in BC, guiding members through and contributing to an ever-changing landscape.

Mechanical systems within a building — often considered the circulatory system — have evolved, improved and become more sophisticated over time. They are much more complex today than they were a century ago and require specialized technical expertise for installations and maintenance.

Originally established to bring together those who have a common interest in plumbing and the associated trades, over the years the trades involved in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and associated systems have changed significantly. This prompted the diversification of the association’s membership and the need to support a multi-faceted industry with many specialty trades.

Mechanical contractors have maintained an integral role in determining the design of a building. And as those designs have become more sophisticated, mechanical contractors have been valued as an integrated partner in the overall building system.

In response, MCABC prioritized its commitment to training and educating contractors on the policies, protocols, and best practices required to meet the standards of a changing industry. Our commitment has been to train and develop the managers leading skilled trades people in the mechanical contracting industry to ensure a standard of excellence and professionalism.

Our industry is committed to the reduction of GHG’s through sustainable building practices. On behalf of our members, we are at the forefront – working closely with provincial and local stakeholders to ensure our members are prepared and can respond to growing demands for mechanical systems that contribute to a clean BC.

MCABC’s strength is its continued, and steadfast, commitment to leading and adapting to change. Representing and supporting our members as they respond to changing policies, industry, and business practices, enables them to deliver exceptional services to BC communities.
