The Mechanical Contracting industry makes up the largest sector of construction in BC. Core to construction projects, mechanical contractors lead various sub-trades through diverse and complex installations, from the conceptual stage of a building through to when doors open and beyond.

An industry offering employment, essential services, and contributing significantly to the GDP of British Columbia.

Mechanical contractors make up the largest single representative trade group on any construction site and contribute significantly to the economy of British Columbia.

The construction industry as a whole employs over 234,000 British Columbians and supports 10% of all employment in the province. As of 2023, there are 21,000+ tradespeople employed in the 10 mechanical trades*.

The economic impact of the construction industry in BC is significant, accounting for nearly 10.3% of the province’s GDP. With the value of construction projects currently underway sitting at $160 billion (Source: BCCA) and the proposed construction projects valued at $34 billion, mechanical contractors provide essential services impacting all British Columbians.
