Vancouver, B.C. — The Mechanical Contractors Association of BC (MCABC) congratulates Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson and the Conservative Party of British Columbia on their election victory, along with every MLA elected to serve our province.
We also thank David Eby, the BC NDP, and outgoing MLAs for their service to British Columbia and their engagement with our industry.
For MCABC, a change in government does not change our mission to advance B.C.’s mechanical contracting industry and enable best-in-class delivery of clear water, clean air, clean energy, and comfort for all British Columbians.
“Our industry is core to the development and growth of B.C.,” says Kim Barbero, MCABC CEO. “Mechanical contractors make builds in B.C. work, from hospitals and industrial facilities to homes and commercial developments. Our industry has an important voice and it’s imperative our members are part of the conversation.”
That was part of the message MCABC delivered on October 26 as part of a conversation, hosted by Bluestone Government Relations, with Peter Milobar, MLA for Kamloops Centre, and Brad West, re-elected Mayor of Port Coquitlam.

We encouraged continued collaboration and made it clear that MCABC is ready to serve as a trusted resource and subject-matter expert on our industry’s priorities, including skilled trades training and standards, productivity and modernization, workforce capacity, housing and infrastructure, and the continued regulatory development of the Construction Prompt Payment Act.
As a new government prepares to take office, MCABC looks forward to working with Premier-elect Doerkson, his government, and MLAs across the province on the issues that will shape B.C.’s future.
